Prof. Dr. D. Gnanadurai is a distinguished academician with extensive experience spanning teaching, administration, and institutional governance. His career reflects a journey from dedicated classroom teaching to leading academic institutions with vision and purpose. He assumed office as the Vice Chancellor of St. Joseph University in July 2017. Prior to this, he served as the Principal of J.P. College of Engineering, Tamil Nadu. He brings with him thirty-five years of teaching experience, including ten years as Principal and eight years as Vice Chancellor.
    Dr. Gnanadurai obtained his B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli in 1989. He completed his M.S. in Electronics and Control from the Birla Institute of Technology, Pilani in 1991. He was awarded his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering by Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tamil Nadu, in 2006.
    He is a recognized Ph.D. supervisor under Anna University, Chennai, and Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, guiding numerous research scholars over the years. A passionate teacher and mentor, he has supervised seven Ph.D. scholars and twenty postgraduate students. His research contributions include forty publications in reputed journals and conferences, and he has served as a reviewer for several prestigious journals. He has also executed two ISRO-funded research projects on Image Compression Techniques during the periods Sept 2001–Aug 2003 and May 2005–April 2007.
    Dr. Gnanadurai has served as a Syndicate Member of Anna University of Technology, Tirunelveli (Aug 2008 – Feb 2012). He has also held the positions of Chairman, Board of Studies (Computer Science and Engineering) and Member, Syndicate Affiliation Committee of Anna University of Technology, Tirunelveli (Aug 2008 – Aug 2011). He is a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) and the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers (IETE). He is also a trained Internal Auditor for ISO 9001:2008.
    An accomplished educator and respected administrator, Dr. Gnanadurai strongly believes in smart work, perseverance, and setting high standards in academic development. As a dynamic and empathetic leader, he inspires students and colleagues alike. He is widely admired for his simplicity, integrity, and trustworthiness, earning him deep respect within the academic community.
